Laser-phosphor and RGB laser illumination — the current standard for high-brightness fulldome projection.
Two main variants: laser-phosphor (blue lasers excite phosphor → white light) and RGB laser / 6P (separate R, G, B laser diodes for pure spectral colours). RGB laser offers wider colour gamut and higher contrast.
Even laser projectors face cross-reflectance. Kirk Johnson (Cosm): "Brightness without contrast does not buy anything because of cross bounce." This drives the shift toward LED domes.
