The UK's longest-running fulldome event returns to Wales for the first time, at CULTVR Lab in Cardiff. Running since 2010, featuring film screenings, live immersive performances, talks, demos, and workshops.
You may make more than one submission, and more than one type β e.g. a film and a presentation about your work.
FDUK 2026 includes film screenings, talks, demos, workshops, live immersive performances, and interactive artworks. The festival is open to UK and international practitioners β a rare opportunity to experience fulldome creativity in all its diversity and connect with fellow immersive creatives.
Audience: creative and media professionals, students, and anyone interested in immersive technologies and frameless media. Selected fulldome films will also be screened for local Cardiff audiences beyond the main festival days.
Multiple submissions are welcome β you can submit a film and a presentation about your process, for example.
CULTVR Lab, Cardiff, Wales β a first for FDUK, which has been running since 2010. CULTVR is an immersive media hub at the heart of Wales's creative technology scene.
The April 2026 CULTVR sound guide confirms a 16-speaker + sub / 17-channel dome system in a 12 metre venue. The speakers are arranged radially on the truss ring that supports the dome, with subwoofers placed stage left and stage right on the floor.
Artists can either use their own rendering system via a 1:1 patch to the speakers or work through the d&b Soundscape system: 16Γ d&b audiotechnik 5S loudspeakers, 4Γ d&b E15X subwoofers, DS100 with En-Space, and Dante-equipped Allen & Heath consoles. Dante is the preferred input; a dedicated Dante interface is recommended over Dante Virtual Soundcard for stability. Any venue device, DVS licence, or specialist staffing needs should be agreed with CULTVR in advance.
